This 4 days Chengdu tour can satisfy your all imaginations about the famous tourist attractions as well as special Sichuan cuisine. In this tour, you can not only experience the volunteer work at Dujiangyan Giant Panda Base to get closer to the cute Giant Pandas, but also visit the world’s largest stone Buddha – Leshan Giant Buddha, and seek ease and comfort in gorgeous Mount Emei. And it’s very convenient to visit all this places cause they are not located very far from each other. Our 4 days itinerary is a perfect choice for nature lovers and mountain climbers. The last but not least, you will visit the famous Jinli Old Street, and time will steal away as you quietly walk on the lively streets full of delicious local snacks, delicate artifacts, interesting folk shows, and other activities.

    ITINERARY

    Welcome to Chengdu, it is the hometown of world-famous Giant Pandas and the special Sichuan cuisine is one of the eight major cuisines in China. Our local guide will meet you at the airport, railway station, or port, then take you to your hotel by a comfortable private vehicle and help you with check-in.

    In the rest of the day, you can explore nearby as much as possible by your own, and please feel free to get some useful suggestions from your tour guide.

    In the morning, we’ll drive about 2 hours from Chengdu to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Leshan Giant Buddha, which is the largest and tallest stone-carved statue of Buddha in the world. It was carved during AD713~803 on a mountain rock cliff by the river, with its head reaching to the mountain top and its feet standing next to the river. If you are interested, you can walk down to the feet of the Giant Buddha for a closer view and take some awesome photos.

    Next, drive about 45mins to Baoguo Temple, it is the biggest temple of Mount Emei at the mountain foot. It has several serene gardens with rare plants, a library of sutras and a huge porcelain Buddha. There is a bell in the temple, which is famous for its 25-ton height and also considered as the second largest bell in entire China. If you go deeper into the temple, you can have a better view of magnificent Mount Emei.Lastly, drive to check in your hotel. Have a good rest for tomorrow’s Mount Emei trekking trip.

    Recommended Optional Activity: take a 30 minutes’ sightseeing boat to enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Giant Buddha on the river.

    After breakfast, meet your tour guide and set out for Mount Emei. As the famous World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site, Mount Emei is an enchanted combination of lush forest and cultural relics as well as one of the Four Great Buddhist Mountains in China, also the home to 5000 kinds of plants (more than the total species in Europe) and over 2300 kinds of wild animals.

    We’ll take a car to the tourist center, then shift on to an Eco-Bus to the mountain top area, it takes about 2 hours. Once we reaching at Leidongping (2400m), keep on walking about 30mins along stone steps to the cable car station, along which you will have a chance to see the wild monkeys.Then, take a cable car (about 5mins) up to the Golden Summit (3077m) which is the biggest highlight and very essence of Mount Emei. There is a towering golden statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and next to the statue sits the bronze Huangzang Temple. This temple has a very long history which can be traced back to the first century CE. You can stroll around the Golden Summit to explore Buddhist architecture and tradition, and enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Emei and surrounding.

    After this wonderful trip, we’ll drive about 3 hrs back to visit the lovely Chengdu.

    Today you’ll head for Dujiangyan Panda Base to experience a day’s volunteer work from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    There are more than 40 Giant Pandas and 5 red pandas, and in this volunteer program, you will experience some activities such as honorary keepers to clean up bamboos, pick up droppings, wash the enclosures, observe and understand the panda’s status and living environments. Besides, you have a chance to prepare food for pandas as well as experience the joy of making panda-shaped cakes, deliver food and fruit to the pandas by your own. Hence, this is a very rare opportunity to get closer to the adorable giant pandas and you also can watch a panda documentary so that you can have a better understanding of their living habits. After spending an unforgettable day at Dujiangyan Panda Base, you will receive an official certificate from CCRCGP that proves your love for giant pandas, as well as souvenirs, like a panda badge, a panda T-shirt or a panda club magazine.
    After this tour, we’ll drive to escort you back to your hotel in Dujiangyan City.

    Please Note:

    1. The above arrangements may be adjusted according to the specific situations and the volunteer program may be delayed or inaccessible by inevitable requirements, control, and Force Majeure like earthquakes, epidemic…

    2. To be a volunteer, you should apply for a week in advance with your Application Form and Health Examination Form.

    3. Requirements & Limitations:

    (a) Health Examination Form: To do the panda volunteer program at Dujiangyan Panda Base, you need to have a valid Health Examination Form (valid medical certificate and signature which could be applied in your country or in China). Feel free to contact our travel consultant for more information or let them register for you. (This form is to ensure that you are not carrying the infectious diseases or other illnesses which endanger the health of pandas.)
    (b) Age & Number Limitations: The center can accept up to 30 volunteers (aged between 12 and 65) at any one time.
    (c) Avoid Using Strong Smell: For pandas have keen sense of smell, volunteers should avoid using perfume or other odorous articles like mosquito repellent liquid, nail polish, skin care products, makeups, etc. on the volunteer work day.
    (d) Dressing Code: During the panda volunteer program, you are required to wear working suites provided by the panda base, usually jumpsuits in cold days and T-shirts in warm and hot days. Shoes are up to you, but avoid avoid sandals, slippers, high-heels, etc.
    (e) Healthy Bodies: To well protect giant pandas, volunteers are required to be healthy, and people who are suffering from illness, like a cold, fever, influenza, and other infectious diseases are not suitable to do the panda volunteer programs.

    After breakfast, your tour guide and driver will take you to pay a visit to the magnificent World Cultural Heritage Dujiangyan, which is the world’s oldest, the only remaining dam as well as a grand hydraulic project. At the same time, it is the crystallization of the wisdom of the ancient Chinese people and an epoch-making masterpiece of Chinese culture. Besides, it is the only great ecological project left in the world so far, opening a new era in the history of water resources in ancient China and marking a new stage in the history of water resources in China.

    Then, after having lunch drive about 30 minutes to visit the spectacular Mount Qingcheng, if you a a mountain climber and nature lover, it is really a wonderful place for you to get more close to nature. Mount Qingcheng is one of the four major Taoist shrines in China, in this fairyland you can not only admire the great masterpiece of nature, but also feel its unique Taoist culture.

    Next, drive back to urban area to experience the local customs of old Chengdu by visiting the relaxing Broad and Narrow Alley. It is a relatively large existing Qing Dynasty ancient street in Chengdu; in Broad Alley, you can enjoy the most authentic Sichuan cuisine and experience the local customs of old Chengdu while the Narrow Alley is a leisure life area focusing on the Western-style food culture, art and leisure.

    Afterwards, your local tour guide will escort you back to the hotel. (If you want to spend more time in Broad and Narrow Alley and taste the special Sichuan food and local snacks, please let your tour guide know in advance.)

    After breakfast, head to the majestic Wenshu Temple to have a spiritual trip. It was built in the Sui Dynasty, houses plenty precious cultural relics and thousands of Buddhist scriptures and documents. After appreciating art treasures, you can enjoy Sichuan’s unique bowl tea in the tea house of Wenshu Temple. After lunch, your tour guide will take you to the entertaining Renmin Park, which is considered as one of the best places to truly experience the life style of “leisure Chengdu city”.

    Next, head to the antique commercial street – Jinli Old Street, it is one of the most popular scenic spots in Chengdu, and also a part of WuHou Shrine Museum. Here, you can enjoy the craft of making clay figures and sugar painting, and also browse the shops with unique characteristics of The Three Kingdoms. There are various of characteristic snacks, tea houses, cafes, bars, inns, etc. You can take some terrific photos especially at dusk the whole street looks surprisingly beautiful.

    End your last day’s trip with an enjoyable visit to WuHou Shrine after having breakfast. It commemorates Zhuge Liang, the prime minister of the State of Shu, and was incorporated into the Han Zhaolie Temple in the early Ming Dynasty. It is also the most influential museum of relics of The Three Kingdoms in China. Hence, if you are interested in Chinese historical figures and Chinese culture, you can exchange ideas with your tour guide to learn more about the Chinese history.

    The rest of time is free for you until your tour guide and driver escort you to the airport in time for the scheduled flight to your next destination. Tour ends.
