8 Days from Yangshuo to Zhangjiajie

Today your flight will touch down in Guilin. We will meet you at the airport exit with a welcome board and then drive you to Yangshuo downtown hotel to check in. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the surrounding areas.

After the breakfast in the hotel, we will take the bike tour to spend the whole day at Yulong River valley to enjoy the the most peaceful and bucolic countryside scenery in Yangshuo and it also offers you a chance to get a deeper insight into the farming life in rural China. To explore the Yulong River, take the bamboo boat on Yulong River. After that will go to the Moon Hill, hiking to the top of moon hill, cycle back to Yangshuo. In the evening, if you have interest, can enjoy a fabulous light show (optional).

Hotel pick up and drive about 40 minutes to visit Xianggong Hill, “Xianggong” is an ancient term for a wife to her husband. It takes about 15 minutes to the top of the hill where you will be amazed by the breathtaking view of Li River and the surrounded Karst mountain peaks. 

Afterwards getting down and drive to the river bank to cross the Li River by ferry, continue the trip with about 1.5 hours hiking along the Li River to Xingping town, enjoy the 20RMB bill background and the best views of Li River and the mountains. Have lunch at Xingping and explore this ancient town. 

Then head to Longji Rice Terraces for the splendid rice terraces and local ethnic minority villages and the drive takes roughly 3 hours. On the way you can enjoy the nice mountain range views, and in the minority villages explore more about the unique ethnic culture and customs. Overnight at Ping’an village.

Spend most of the day to hike around at the Ping’an village to enjoy the rice terraces views and visit local minority villages. There are several hiking trails that you can choose depending on your physical condition, it could last from 1 hour up to 5 hours. So just tell your guide what you want, then your guide can recommend you the options.

Today we will transfer to the station and take the 2^nd class train from Guilin to Zhangjiajie. Our driver and guide will meet you at the station, then take you to check into the hotel in Zhangjiajie downtown. Have a good rest and make preparations for tomorrow’s tour.

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel, today you will head for one of the most famous attractions in the park and the one that attracts the most tourists – Tianzi mountain. You will ascend the mountain by cable-car and at the top you will be able to enjoy views of Warrior Taming Horse Rock and the Western Sea which are two of the most stunning mountain formations in the whole park and are really a pleasure to see. 

Then take shuttle bus to Kongzhongtianyuan, from where you can see some rice field on the top of pillar, which is very spectacular, hike down to a platform, you can get very close to the pillar mountains, which is one of the best view in the park! Then take shuttle bus to the top of Yuanjiajie area, which is now famous because of the movie Avatar. From here, you’ll stand at the same level with the mid-age pillars, which is bigger than those on Tianzi mountain. Take Bailong elevator down.

Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, the bridge stretches between two cliffs – it’s about 430 meters long and 300 meters above the Grand Canyon. You can see the bottom of the canyon through the bridge when you are walking on it. After the Glass Bridge we either take zipline & slide OR elevator & slide (weight limit for zipline: 40kg to 80kg) down to the bottom of the canyon. Then hike along the trails in Grand Canyon, which is indeed another kind of enjoyment, you can just enjoy the quietness, beautiful waterfalls, pristine water and be very close to the nature. All you need to do is just relax yourself and be invovled in the nature.

Then we will transfer back to the national park and pay a visit to one of the most beautiful valleys in the world – the golden whip stream. From here they appear to shoot up into the sky like giant natural skyscrapers. The water in the stream is clear, the air pure and the site very well maintained. We will have a relaxing hiking along the stream.

Check out in the morning, transfer to Zhangjiajie city center, and pay a visit to the sandstone painting gallery to appreciate the unique painting arts. 

Then transfer to Tianmen mountain in Zhangjiajie city. As the highest mountain (1548.6m) in Zhangjiajie area, Tianmen mountain owned the longest cable car (7455m) in the world, which takes half an hour for one-way riding. On the cable car, you can have a bird view of the 99 curves Tongtian road. Enjoy the breathless walking along the glass bottom skywalk against the cliff. The 999 steps can directly reach the amazing Tianmen cave, the natural mountain-penetrating karst cave with the highest elevation in the world, hangson the towering cliff, it is indeed a big feast of your eyes!

After the visit of Tianmen mountain, you will have some free time for dinner and then transfer to the airport according to your departure flight schedule.
